I know exactly what you mean about knowing where your kid is...when they are locked up. It isn't a bad thing. I slept better.

Your comment about seeing your daughter's mugshot really hit home for me today. For the past few weeks I've been busy communicating and working with my son preparing for his upcoming release and when I looked up his case worker there was his mugshot. Just like you it took my breath away and just when I started feeling hurt & angry your post kicked my butt off the pitty-party train...because these are the lucky ones - they are alive and have a chance at life.
Two weekends ago a young 17-yr old girl from my son's highschool OD'd and died at a party - her parents are devistated, the 3 kids who provided the drugs were arrested and charged with homicide; parents are screaming and the MN legislature announced today they are going to be taking up this issue during their next session b/c according to them, Heroin use & addiction by our youth in this country is out of control and more often than not connected with doctor-prescribed opiates - well duh!!! About time...
We all need to start writing to our state lawmakers to not only tell them to do something but to tell them our stories in plain English why it's so important to act now rather than later...
