just about a week ago,, my beautiful young daughter was arrested for attemption to steal purse,,, this is of course the action of a herione addiction,, which by the way,, just found that out,,,, she was in rehap about four month ago for pill popping,, she came out,, was clean for about or so Id thought for 60days,, until she met "someone" in one of her out-patient groups,, which we discouraged her not to date,, when at 22 tell me how you can stop that,,, now I look back,,, learning so much for this "studpid, sad, situation"! we decided not to bail her out,, which by the way was the hardest moment of my life!,, We have four childeren,,, just a average middle class family,,go to church, simple life here,,, you look into the eyes of these kids, and see the innocent, and you wonder when this pain took place,,, drug addiciton is not prejudice,,, and they lying and manipulation they cover it up so well,, until the bottom falls out.,, so anyone out there,, pray pray and pray... I've come to this point,,, to surrender her to God,,,,
If she was in rehab, she knows they say don't get in a relationship the whole first year. another excuse. if they were both wanting recovery they could have encouraged that instead of using.
you were right not to bail her out. you are seeing things painfully clear.
My son is an alcoholic (now sober 2 years 5 months and 11 days) and at 22 he was in jail.
I figured I knew where he was and he was sober and relatively safe, so I was sad, but actually more relaxed.
I was a paid employee of a large church and ran the sunday school for seven years...my son was a sunday school teacher- I did everything "right"...and I have stopped beating myself up.
all I can say in the way of advice is keep communication open with everyone in your household. no secrets, or they are used to the addicts manipulation.

my daughter is also 22,, just went and seen her in jail,,, guess better then the grave site!,, your so right about encouraging another,,, she did say that God put her behind bars, because He wanted her safe,, she just started using herione three weeks ago,,,, her court date is monday, so I guess we go from there,,, she did allow us to take temporary custody of her little girl (5),,, I know with the help of God"s grace we will get through this,,, I believe everything happens for a reason,perhaps through this experince I'm able to help someone out.,,
