I have been marriage now for almost 12 years, we have been together for 13. We have 3 beautiful children ~ 2 boys, 1 girl, and then I also have a sorta kinda step daughter, and 2 step sons from a prior relationship. Our marriage has had its bumps and bruises ~ many years ago my husband had a problem with Cocaine and it ended with him serving 6 months in jail, 3 years probations. But for the past 3-4 years things have been wonderful atleast until 6 or so months ago....... He is now doing Crack is was just an occasional thing but within the last 8 days he has done it 6 times. I have realized for sometime it is a problem and have threatened to leave him, have tryed to talk to him, tryed to get him help, offered anything that I could I would do! I was with a Crack Addict 16 years ago and my husband was one of the people who helped me through it, picked up the pieces and now he is the one who is doing it to me and our family! There is also other circumstances.... I have many medical conditions, but the one I was recently dignoised with is Cancer. I am very scared for my babies and at a complete loss with my husband!

Hi I'm not an expert, and I'm new here too, so I hope I don't say the wrong thing. But do you have any support from your friends and familly who know about your husband's problem? Do you go to a counselor or an al-anon meeting? It sounds like you truly do need to do something, and soon, because if you are undergoing cancer treatments this is going to be a rough ride for you and your family. Start reaching out to the people in your life that you can trust. And if you don't have any, find some! Your local church, even if you are not a believer, can sometimes be a big help especially if financial issues are a concern. I don't know you but I will pray for you today.

I was married for almost 12 years to a crack addict. I didn't want to divorce him, but I couldn't live with his addictions, he has been using meth. Plus almost every word out of his mouth became a lie.
Of all the drugs, Cocaine and amphetamine produce rapid conditioning in addicts, making them very hard drugs to quit. The cravings are extreme and makes these addicts paranoid and will do anything to get the drug. Addicts pick up right where they left off when it comes to addiction. There is no grace period, but they will chase that first high but never reaching it. He quit before and hopefully he will quit sooner then later again.
You need to focus on your cancer, do what you need to do and think about leaving him if things get to where you can't handle his binges anymore.
Alanon may help you as will one on one counseling.
I know he will have to want to stop and until that time you will be on a merri-go-round.

Thank you for the kind words! It help just having someone there to listen and respond with answer especially when it is someone who has already been though it too. I can not tell you what your words have done for you, but I can tell you I now I have a smile on my face.
