Numb w/shock..yet again!

The friend who has been my lifeline through the death of my son and who also lost his son only to have his other only surviving son sent to the penitentiary for 35 years for involuntary vehicular manslaughter...and yet, remained so stoic throughout such extraordinary losses (his wife also left him), and the one who sustained & comforted me consistently, the friend who framed the poem "Tears Are The Proof of Life" as a loving and caring gesture...and so much more,,took HIS OWN LIFE!, He remained steadfast in his belief that in spite of all that had happened to him, life was worth living and that some day I would see the light. And now, as I try to find the meaning of life, this too! Don't know how much longer I can hold up.

We can't know, we can't even imagine, what he went through to reach a place where he gave up all hope. He's been through an awful lot. Sometimes being "strong" means not dealing with the full brunt of the pain in our lives. Sometimes. Perhaps that was true in his case. Personally, I believe life and death is not in my hands and I must persevere - that is part of the life plan for me and I intend to fulfill it. But...any stressor of any kind (inter-personal, illness, etc.) makes it three times harder to stay the course, for a few days. That's why I have two therapists. He may have hit bottom. Well, he obviously did. Pray for him.

I'm sorry you lost your support and dear friend. Maybe you can write to his imprisoned son, to console him.

Are you of faith? I get a lot of strength from God. Our son wrote most of the Prayer of Salvation in his suicide note. He is in heaven. I am comforted by trusting God and by reaching out to those who are grieving.
We will be reunited with our son when it is our time to leave this short life on Earth.
