The feeling of horror and panic and self blame - these are, unfortunately, normal part of reaction to losing a loved one to suicide. I suggest you read Theresa Rando Ph.D., "How to Go On Living when Someone You Love Dies". You'll see yourself in these pages. You know that you're not losing your mind (even though it feels that way) and that, over time and with help (I strongly suggest a grief counselor) you will emerge from this dark place. Whatever prompted his action we can't know. Mental illness is insidious. Some people just reach the point of no return, literally. You have to be certain you don't fall victim to this. Hang in there, one day at a time.
