I was at a friends house for dinner and i decided to make a real effort not to drag the conversation back to squeege's recent death. As i sat there and listened to them discussing curtains and how much they cost per meter I realized I might as well be on a different planet. I just have nothing to say to friends and family anymore nor do i have much interest in what they have to say. I know they are doing there best, it's just how i feel. . . can anyone relate?
Sometimes people are just at a complete loss for words, so pointless babble comes out instead. I'm glad you know they are trying. Hang on to that. You may need them. Hugs.
When I find myself becoming agitated due to conversations around me, I first: withdraw politely; I second: remind myself of those days when the worst problem I had was what colors to paint my home, or how I was going to afford a new TV, or whether my car needed an oil change. These people appear blessed because they have yet to be touched by horror or tragedy but, in the end, everyone is. Best defense is good offense: walk away and pray for them.
