You can also say that you are managing your dark thoughts, but are looking for help because you fear becomming weaker.
Finally, try to identify if it is situational (something upsetting you) or biological (anything from lacking sleep, exercise, nutrients, or another imbalance that requires medication).

No, daninfla, you didn't have anything to do with your brother's death. I read early in my journey that everyone who has anything to do with the person (even the gas station attendant in our case) feels on level THEY are the one who could have done something. They couldn't have.
