Now, as an adult, I have medical issues for which I have to take drugs that have psychiatric side effects, one of them was even being considered to be pulled from the market due to it creating suicidal ideation. However, I can't not take the drugs since that means I can't breath and die from not enough oxygen. I've also had other medical issues arise, and in fact when I describe the medical history to a minister once, he said, "wow, that is a lot to deal with." It's a long story, but there are times when I don't see a good option medically. My family is not supportive. When I've tried to get help, it goes ignored some of the time. So, my strategy at this point is to just hold on and eventually the feeling passes...especially if it's due to drug changes. When the drugs change and the suicidal ideation occurs, I just hold on and know it will pass. There is no other option drug wise to treat the medical conditions and without those drugs I would be dead from respiratory failure.
Sometimes I wonder if there is a God who loves me, then why are most people not interested in helping or understanding? I know there is a God who loves me, but it is something I question at times.
Anyway, thanks for the thoughts and posts. It's not that a person wants to feel that way. It's hard to explain, as you say. It's not a simple as "I chose to rob someone". It's more of something deep inside that comes up. No one wants to feel that way. It only makes a person scared to ask for help for fear of being judged. What a person needs most of all is to be heard and cared for and helped. I just try to live each moment and make sure what I'm doing will help me in the future and I hold on and endure pain when it comes and then it passes. I try to make my body do things even if I don't feel like it. If I'm depressed (can be a side effect of the meds), then I still somehow force myself to get up and do a daily routine. Then, by doing, sometimes the mood will change. Sometimes not, but it passes with time.
