That was a long time ago - maybe 10 years or so. But I remember it as if it was yesterday. I think of it often as my health has steadily deteriorated, I have no one to turn to, and my other two sons are in the midst of crises even as I write this. One returned from his 3rd deployment to Iraq a few months ago and has severe PTSD. He attempted suicide. He's getting treatment, but he has a long road ahead of him. And he's far away from me. My other son is battling thoughts of suicide right now, as he and his wife have split up and his world is falling apart around him. I have a 16 yr old granddaughter I haven't seen since she was 1 yr old and battling cancer. It's a situation where I will probably never have the opportunity to see her. I rarely get to see my other grandchildren. All I have left is my brother who is very ill after complications from a second kidney transplant and I will probably never see him again. He's 2,000 miles away and I don't even bring in enough money with my disability check, to buy groceries. All other relatives are long gone. I was only 20ish when my mom died. My father killed himself some years after my son commited suicide. No aunts, uncles, cousins. My best friends are 2,000 miles away too, and, well, after a while, out of sight, out of mind. My health keeps me fairly isolated. My church only berates me because they can't believe I could really be so sick I can't get my butt in that pew on Sundays. Heck, I'm lucky if I can get my butt out the front door most days. I have my beloved service dog and she keeps me going. But always in the back of my mind is that visit from my son promising me that the time will come when I will know happiness.
Well, I have a knack for making a short story long. But there you have it. Yes, I do believe our loved ones can visit us. Either that or I was delusional. I prefer to think it was no delusion.
Personally I have not seen my father in any of my dreams and I wish I could but he has not 'come to me' yet. others have dreamt of him. but if his spirit lives on i hope he realizes how much i want to see him. I feel anger toward him for what happened ... it may be why he is reluctant. I feel like a child belieiving in the easter bunny when i consider an afterlife but You need something to keep u going
