Ive been in your girlfriends shoes and it may be that she needs to go to the hospital to get some serious evaluation and meds. dealing with rape is something you never forget and can be traumatic for a long time. as far as "mental problems" that can be a range of things from depression to anything more serious" if she tells you she is suicidal everyday then I feel that would be the best place for her. She can get connected to a psych and someone like a therapist. therapy is great dealing with rape and other issues like that. Im glad she has you there but she needs more support. not that your not enough you care to comment for help but she should admidt herself and tell the e.r doctors this. prayers to you both.
He did not mind about my problems, he did not mind that i did not have any friends, he did not mind that i stopped talking when i was feeling bad, He did not mind that i pushed him away when i thought he was getting to close. He did not mind a million other things that i thought made me a bad human. He was just there.
In time (no happy ending for me) i have improved. I dont mind bed time, I get up in the morning with my head held high and wonder why i ever felt that low. Just be there for her no matter what and you know time is a great thing. My best wishes to you.
Such an event as rape can lead to many issues such as eating disorders, depression, and suicidal thoughts. I guess it means you have to understand that the loss of control, the horrific loss of control--and how she deals with it, is a very real part of her life, bless her heart. But it's also a HUGE thing to place on your shoulders as well, hence you coming here.
Your sweetie needs help: she trusts you. When I finally told my boyfriend (now my husband of over 20 years), the relief was profound. He told me it would never happen again, and that I was so much more than what had happened to me. Yes, it was horrible, so horrible I still block it out of my memories. Yes, it defined how I viewed relationships, always fearful. But like you, he loved me beyond that hurt. He told me that, and I took it to heart.
Your GF needs to move past that point where she feels her life was obliterated. She needs to see that it does NOT DEFINE HER. She is still strong, still beautiful, still whole. If it helps her to read this, let her. From one to another--that awful moment is not yours. It's not your fault. And through your pain, through your strenght--girl I know, like me, you can find peace with who you are. I was seven, and I lived with it for so long, then I found someone who completed my life in the moment I needed it. Take that and RUN. You are beautiful and wonderful because you are YOU. Live and show them ALL just how strong you are!
