Hello! I'm new to the group. I was wondering if any of you fellow heterozygous FVL friends have had surgery after a clotting event? I'm going to have surgery in Sept and I'm a little nervous because of my clotting issues in Nov 2012. After a surgery in Nov 2012, I developed bilateral PEs and DVT because I didn't know I had FVL. I was also on birth control. Anyway, I will have surgery in Sept and I was curious to hear if any of you have had successful surgery without any additional clotting issues after a previous clotting episode? My surgeon is giving me heparin prior to surgery and also lovenox for 30 days after surgery so I will be protected. Any stories would be greatly appreciated! :))) Thank you!

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
I've had surgery and will again in October. My doc usually stops the Warfarin days before and regulates the day before with Lovenox, then the day of the surgery, at night start the Warfarin and a shot of Lovenox, maybe another......Never had 30 days of Lovenox, it is extremely expensive, even with surgery. Hope you trust your doc.
I know when I had my clots they gave me too much thinner for my size and it caused my veins to bleed in my feet and I'm left with blackish ankles/feet that will never go away, I cover with makeup which is a pain to have to do all the time.
My doc prescribed a COAGUCHECK machine paid for by insurance and my husband does it weekly, I actually monitor my own blood to see when I should cut back on vegies or not have a cocktail. I should not be between 2 to 3, I should be closer to 2 or just under, otherwise all my veins look like they will pop. After 5 years, I've learn to go with my gut, and monitor myself, even they fax the result to your doc. I'd rather skip a pill when it's too thin than take the rat poison, which is what it is.
