Esophageal Cancer Support Group

Esophageal cancer is malignancy of the esophagus. There are various subtypes. Esophageal tumors usually lead to dysphagia (difficulty swallowing), pain and other symptoms, and is diagnosed with biopsy. Small and localized tumors are treated with surgery, and advanced tumors are treated with chemotherapy, radiotherapy or combinations.

Hi, Some of you may remember me. My sister died from esophageal cancer last year, just two years after her diagnosis. Many of you were very helpful to me at the time, and I shared much needed information from you with my sister. Thank you. I wanted to let you know that sometimes I go out into my yard (we have an acre lot) and just pull weeds while I'm thinking about cancer and the families it affects. My neighbors think I'm crazy, but I think of the weeds as cancer and think of all the battles that so many endure. In some silly way, I feel that I'm helping. Just wanted to let you know that I'm still thinking about you and still trying to help battle the cancer with you.

I remember when your sister passed away and how we all felt.

Cancer sure sux as we all know.

Hi Linda I am a weed picker too. My husband is 2.5 years or from surgery. Things aren't perfect but he has a great quality of life.

Hi Linda: I think of you and your sister often! I've shared that my sister is dealing with colon cancer. It's been about 2 1/2 years now & they recently started her on a study. I sure wish a cure and prevention for cancer would come & soon! I don't come to our board as often as I did for years (almost daily), but too, hold a soft place in my heart for those we've met and are yet to meet dealing with EC - whether themselves or a loved one. It's been 7+ years since my stage 3 diagnosis & 7 years next month since my EC surgery. Still showing cancer free (knock on wood)! I just always feel God has more for me to do here, so I try to remember still to make the most of each day! Keep pulling those weeds & doing your artwork! I love seeing your creations in painting. Bet your garden looks lovely too! :-)
