Esophageal Cancer Support Group
Esophageal cancer is malignancy of the esophagus. There are various subtypes. Esophageal tumors usually lead to dysphagia (difficulty swallowing), pain and other symptoms, and is diagnosed with biopsy. Small and localized tumors are treated with surgery, and advanced tumors are treated with chemotherapy, radiotherapy or combinations.
Sadly, my brother lost his battle with Stage 4 EC on December 20th. The end came unexpectedly...although the cancer had spread to his liver and his brain, he still was responding to chemo and radiation. Then, very suddenly, he lost control of his bowels and was unable to urinate. Testing showed that tumors had invaded his kidneys and were blocking his urethra, and he passed away in hospice about three days later.
This loss had devastated us--no mere words can do justice to the anguish this miserable rotten disease has caused. But I do want to thank everyone for your kind words and support this past year. Keep fighting, folks. God willing, this horrible disease will one day be licked.

It must have been great comfort to him having you there for him in his life and especially during his cancer diagnosis, treatment. He must have been an awesome brother too. I could tell in your words and your concern, this past year here, that he meant so much to you. Hugs, Brenda
