Esophageal cancer is malignancy of the esophagus. There are various subtypes. Esophageal tumors usually lead to dysphagia (difficulty swallowing), pain and other symptoms, and is diagnosed with biopsy. Small and localized tumors are treated with surgery, and advanced tumors are treated with chemotherapy, radiotherapy or combinations.
I have a question to throw out there. I had chemo and radiation 3 yrs ago this month. I had cisplatin and 5FU. i was told at the time about the cisplatin causing hearing problems and at the time i definately had ringing in the ears. I still have it on a regular basis and wondered if anyone else has this. It bothers me on occasion but i am getting used to it now and consider it part of a new normal. I dont think i have hearing loss but then i didnt ask my husbands opinion. LOL Thanks for any thoughts. And Happy Thanksgiving to all. 3 years ago I couldnt eat the wonderful food but i plan on eating my share this year. so for those who cant this year, i pray that you will have many more oportunities to share this meal with your family. Mike was on the same chemo as you and he definitely profound suffered hearing loss after treatment. He now wears new "ears" thanks to a hearing specialist we visited and I don't have to have the TV cranked to 25 anymore! :) (Mike was also a finishing carpenter so his hearing wasn't good going in to chemo, but it definitely tipped the balance for him and because of his occupation, we were fully covered by WCB for the aids.) You should get it checked though because ringing in the ears could also be a blood pressure issue....
Not sure why my reply that I tried 2 times does not appear. So here we go again. I work for ENT doctors maybe you just need a cleaning. I also have ringing in my ears had a hearing test back when it started probably an age thing. But I found after the cleaning it seemed to get lower or maybe I just ignor it. It is worth a try.OK

Thank you for your reply to fireJon and me. It is like I am in this dream and will wake up someday. Each day I pray for all the people on this site plus all the people I met having radiation/chemo.
By the way I am not too computer wise so I have a question. How do I get our picture from my photos to my profile?
