Esophageal Cancer Support Group

Esophageal cancer is malignancy of the esophagus. There are various subtypes. Esophageal tumors usually lead to dysphagia (difficulty swallowing), pain and other symptoms, and is diagnosed with biopsy. Small and localized tumors are treated with surgery, and advanced tumors are treated with chemotherapy, radiotherapy or combinations.

Three years ago this month, i was in treatment with chemo and radiation for this cancer and yesterday i had my 4 month oncologist check. As of now i am NED i am so thankful.. Everyone keep the faith and you are in my prayers...Cindy

Yeah, Cindy!!!! I'm so glad for you, my dear. I have my 5-month PET next week (Nov 9), but other than the never-ending struggle to eat at least once a day, I'm totally healthy.

Hi Cindy, does NED mean cancer free? That's what it sounds like which is incredible news!!!!! Praise God! What does it stand for?

lilacs22 , it stands for No Evidence of Disease. this is what they use instead of cancer free. i honestly dont know why. i am guessing they dont want to say cancer free and then it pops up and they get called a liar...LOL maybe someone else knows why they dont just say cancer free.?? I know they dont say cured because you never know when it can pop up. even after 5 years , right Fred.. i have heard some people are told they are CANCER FREE, after so many years. Cindy
