Esophageal Cancer Support Group

Esophageal tumors usually lead to dysphagia (difficulty swallowing), pain and other symptoms, and is diagnosed with biopsy. Small and localized tumors are treated with surgery, and advanced tumors are treated with chemotherapy, radiotherapy or combinations.
I have since been more aware of how I am positioned and started drinking water during the night. The heartburn feeling has decreased.
I called my surgeon's office and they referred me back to my primary doc. That's confusing because the surgeon is directing my follow-up care. So if the heartburn continues I will see my primary. Right now things seem to be getting better.
I'll keep ya informed if my Natural path comes up with something that works. Good luck
Bob
Contrary to the usual medical advice of not eating before bed, my dietitian suggested a small protein snack before going to bed. Like "maxandlavern", I have a small bit of cheese and crackers, peanut butter and crackers or Greek yogurt and that seems to prevent the burning while I'm sleeping.
I had called my surgeon's office and they wanted me to see my primary care to rule out a heart problem. Did that and the EKG was ok.
Cheese and cracker before bed sounds like a plan.
It seems we were dealing with our diagnosis about the same time. Mine was July 2008 (stage 3) and yours Aug 2008 (stage 4). It's wonderful knowing we are 6+ years here to help give hope & support to others. Always great to see you on DS :-) Hugs, Brenda
@Brenda2008- HI! Yes, we are very close in diagnosis dates. You were inspirational in my having surgery (2012)! Thank you for all of the support you have given tome and to others on this site! I will try to be more present.
