Esophageal Cancer Support Group

Esophageal cancer is malignancy of the esophagus. There are various subtypes. Esophageal tumors usually lead to dysphagia (difficulty swallowing), pain and other symptoms, and is diagnosed with biopsy. Small and localized tumors are treated with surgery, and advanced tumors are treated with chemotherapy, radiotherapy or combinations.

I'm very fortunate that I've have my feeding tube removed and am eating well. The problem is that I have 45 cans (almost 2 cases, or $90 worth) of formula left over and I'm unable to find a way to donate it.

I'm so glad that you are doing Ok. It is good to hear from you.

I had 50 days worth of an Rx left over after I was taken off of it. i ended up donating it to a free medical clinic.

I'll bet San Fran has many of these.

Wonderful that you are doing well. I too found myself with lots of formula and supplies left over. I went to get my tube removed and my surgeon at the clinic took all my supplies to donate to anyone that came in that couldnt afford it. I was glad it went to someone who needed it...

Thank you all of your good wishes. I apreciate it. I'll let you know if I find somewhere to donate my supplies. You wouldn't believe how many organizations have turned me down: hospice, Veterans Hospital, HIV/AIDS clinic in SF, free medical clinic in SF, an organization that sends surplus medical supplies to other countries in need, American Cancer Society...I have emails into my Onchologist, Radiologist and Surgeon. I'm also waiting for a Facebook site that lets patients exchange supplies, but they need to accept me as a member first. I'm really surprised at how much time I've put into trying to lend a helping hand. Last option: I hear they can feed it to puppies at shelters:)

GOOD NEWS! My radiologist sent my letter to the dietician and she phoned this morning to say she will gladly accept the formula and the extra supplies!!! Thank you all for your suggestions. I'm so glad this will not go to waste.
