Esophageal Cancer Support Group
Esophageal cancer is malignancy of the esophagus. There are various subtypes. Esophageal tumors usually lead to dysphagia (difficulty swallowing), pain and other symptoms, and is diagnosed with biopsy. Small and localized tumors are treated with surgery, and advanced tumors are treated with chemotherapy, radiotherapy or combinations.
I was asked today if i would be the honorary chair for our Relay For Life in june. I told them i had to think about it because i am terrified to speak to a large group.
I only had to think about it for a few hours and i have decided to accept. it is a true honor to be asked this. I decided that this is my big chance to get some awareness of this terrible cancer out there. I had never heard of it when i was diagnosed and have talked to many people since, they had never heard of it either.
So wish me luck on June 4. I have to write a speach and give it that night. they will also interview me and it will be in our countys largest newspaper>
I believe the Lord wants me to do this for others. If i can save one person from this cancer it will be worth it... Thanks to all of you. You have helped me more than you know. Without this place i would not ever known that there are people out there who have lived through this awful beast. God Bless, Cindy

Quite an honor and I know you'll do great! Let us know how it goes June 4th. That's going to be very exciting. It's wonderful - knowing how sick we were - to know how well we've become and can speak out. Congrats! Brenda
What a great opportunity!!! We get so little exposure, partly due to the aggressiveness of this beast.
Don't worry about being nervous. Once you get started, your desire to pass on info about this disease will, I expect, take hold.
If you can, perhaps you can copy your talk on this post after you give it. I would love to read whatever you have to say.
