Esophageal cancer is malignancy of the esophagus. There are various subtypes. Esophageal tumors usually lead to dysphagia (difficulty swallowing), pain and other symptoms, and is diagnosed with biopsy. Small and localized tumors are treated with surgery, and advanced tumors are treated with chemotherapy, radiotherapy or combinations.
My fathers doctor apt went really well. The chemo although knocked him on his booty has knock the lymph nodes more on their booties. One to the point of being completely gone. And the larger two are half the size they were before he began chemo.
He has taken on a new attitude and I am able to see him smile once again. That is priceless to me.
He has been put on a 2 week to 4 week break until the doc can decide on a new course of combo for chemo that won't knock him down so horribly.
We are welcoming this break and feeding him full of lots and lots of food.

It sounds like your dad's doctor was treating him aggressively - and it's working! My husband's doctor said good cells were being killed along with the bad cells. But, the good news is that the body has an amazing ability to recover. I'm watching it with my husband. Sometimes I'm amazed at how far hes' come.
