Although I do not often write on this site, I read the posts daily. They always give me hope and clarify much of the new information that I am acquiring. So I am pleased to let other EC patients know that my dad who was diagnosed with a 6cm tumor in his esophagus, who underwent chemo and radiation - having a difficult time with it. He was hospitalized twice during treatment, once after being in a diabetic coma. He had a scan 6 and a half weeks ago and the tumor had only shrunk 20 percent. The dr said radiation would still be working in his body and suugested waiting a few more weeks to see if there was further shrinkage. He went for a PET scan on Wednesday and the results have come back that there is no more tumor. There is still swelling where the tumor was and there are cancer cells - but a more positive outcome we could not have asked for. We are meeting a surgeon in 2 weeks time to discuss if surgery is an option (which we hope for) or else he will have chemo as a long term treatment. I am counting one blessing at a time - and just prey that more will continue for all those fighting this disease.
