Esophageal cancer is malignancy of the esophagus. There are various subtypes. Esophageal tumors usually lead to dysphagia (difficulty swallowing), pain and other symptoms, and is diagnosed with biopsy. Small and localized tumors are treated with surgery, and advanced tumors are treated with chemotherapy, radiotherapy or combinations.
So far, things have been going well for my husband. After 3 weeks of daily radiation and 3 Chemo treatments he is feeling pretty good. Doc says he will lose his hair but so far, no symptoms. He has not felt sick and continues to have a pretty good appetite. God is truely sitting on his shoulder and I pray he watches over our family through this iwhole process and gives us good results in the end ot his journey. Thank you all for your prayers and thoughts. I pray for everyone one of you and your family who have also been on your own journey.
I never lost my hair.
But by three weeks, I had lost some appetite and did not like the smell of things cooking. By week five, I had to make myself eat.
I was allowed to rest for six weeks after the last radiation treatment and before the operation. By then my nausea had abated.
In my case, the outcome is good at over three years since diagnosis, and I am wishing your husband a recovery as good as mine has been.
He has had to take his anti nausea meds but has not been sick, which is a good thing. He was extremely tired yesterday and I assume this will extend for the next few months... He has been eating so appetite has not been a problem.
So happy to hear your husbands 3 year success! There is hope!
