I'm wondering if anyone is having problems similar to mine? I was diagnosed almost a year ago with Complex partial seizures. I have been recently having problems with my motor skills that will last weeks at a time and then just seem to disappear, also with my speech. For example, I will try to write the letter "5" and my hand will write something else. My speech is jumbled, words coming out wrong or sentences coming out with the words mixed up. It usually starts slow and each day progressively gets worse. Each month has gotten worse, and the time period between the "episodes" are shortening. I'm having problems this "episode" with my right foot dragging at times when I walk. I will be walking and then I will trip over my own foot. My mind is sharp. It's like my mind and my body are no longer friends with each other. By the end of the episode I'm exhausted to where I just want to cry. To breath is exhausting. I feel like my body is shutting down. I've told my Neuro and he's working on trying to figure it out. He just hasn't yet. His idea is to "increase the meds".... sigh.... Imagine running as fast as you can no matter how tired you get just keep running... for days and days... that is how to explain how it feels at times.... now add on some seizures... Any ideas???? I feel like I'm running out of time here... And just to add something else.... there is an "in between episodes time" where I may have a few auras, but nothing major. I feel pretty good in general. I asked this in the "discussion" section.. I should have asked it here instead... oops
The only reason I ask this is I originally went to a neuro who turned out to be nothing but a pill pusher. I had asked him if there were any other meds I could try. He named off a few and asked which one I wanted. After a while he was ready to schedule surgery. I went to see my family doctor and he said I shouldn't have any surgery without having a lot more testing done. (The only test I had before was a CT scan.) I didn't know a lot about epilepsy for a long time due to going to the wrong doctors.
Have you talked to your family doctor about your condition? Sometimes, I think they are better to talk to. Since they are not specialized in a particular field, I think they are more willing to look outside of the box instead of what the specialist are dealing with.
