Would there be or were there any complications for you?
On my last trip to my neurologist, the question was asked and he mentioned that because of the medication I take (lamictal) if I ever chose to have kids in the future he recomended that I may have to stop taking my medication for the first tri mester because of some complications it may cause for the baby as it develops. I remember he said it was a small per centage, but it's still something right?
I worry that if I did fall pregnant and stopped taking my medication and happened to have a seizure, I might accidently harm the baby. I'm also shit-scared of the seizures too, and really dont want to have another again.
I also read somewhere about long term side effects of lamictal on a baby if I'd breast feed and the baby's ability to metabolise the drug. I know that breast feeding has long term benefits but I worry about how it might effect a baby's growth and development.
I guess I'll know what I want to do when the time comes that I choose to have a baby, it's a long way off yet, but I want to know what I might expect during a pregnancy, and regarding the breast feeding too.
I've had epilepsy since I was a few months old but I was put on medication early, which I took on and off for years.
I might've had one or two every year or so, including mostly absent seizures at school, until the year 2000 where I didnt have a seizure right up until 2008.
Luckily I had the seizure at home, only an hour or so after picking my little sister and her boyfriend at the time from his house. I was carried away from a table I'd fallen on (because it was glass) and an ambulance was called. I had another at a friends house about a month or so after that and after some fishing around, I agreed with a great new neurologist that I should go back on medication.
I think on my next yearly visit I ought to ask him a little more about it, but I'd like to read some first hand opinions and experiences too.

My 1st. pregnancy was the worst for my epilepsy. I don't remember which med. I was on (I've been on so many), but I would have about 3 siez. a day almost everyday. Fortunately my son turned out just fine.
When I was pregnant with my 2nd and 3rd child I didn't have the seiz. problem as with the 1st one, although I still had epilepsy and still had seiz. just not near as often.
The really hard part was that because of my breast feeding I didn't always have my periods regularly, plus my meds. made it so that the birth control didn't work, so pregnancys were happening without planning. I'm just very thankful that my epilepsy and the meds. to go with it never affected my children in anyway.
