Yes I am. I have been on it for it about 9 years I think my husband is better with time then I am. I had a tumor in my left temp lobe and thats what the doc's say what started my Seizures. So I dont know if thats what help me get on disabillty. Because I was aproved 1st time no Q&A. I talk to people that tell me its hard to get on it but jut apply and if they say no apeal, over and over.

I live in NY. I've been in the process of applying for disability for over 2 years and my hearing is finally coming up this month. I am not totally sure but I think the rules or laws may vary from state to state. However, it's a long process so if you are thinking about it you may want to get started on it.
The answer given by Dallas below is correct as well. It's possible to be approved the first time around and it depends on what your doctors say along with how the advocate for you presents it to the judge. If you get rejected you can appeal. I wish you the best of luck!

Thanks guys. I did turn in my application and crossing my fingers they will understand what I am going through. We'll see. They said they have 120 days to make their decision and they might request that I see one of their doctors for questioning. BUt so far I haven't heard anything. I'll probably look into getting a lawyer to help me because this is getting worse and this stuff is so complicated I'm not sure my neuro really knows what to do. I still need to go back in and discuss more treatment options. All they said was my seizures are all over my brain and they are very complex that they can't tell how often I am having them or how severe they can or cannot be without me being hooked up to an eeg all day. So who knows. I just feel lost and I just know I can't work. My husband is worried just even when I'm just sitting at home. I hurt my hand yesterday and I don't know how or when, but it's swollen and hurts really bad. thought about going in to see if it's broken. I'm just so frusterated.

The EEG you mentioned is a 24/48 hour one and it can be a pain in the butt, however, it gives a lot of information to the doctor. When you know what's going on you won't feel so lost, you'll feel relieved! I know there are special law firms that only practice disability law and only get paid if they win the case. That's the kind of firm I have representing me.
It kind of sounds like you may have had a seizure and hurt yourself, I'm sorry that happened. Perhaps you should call and get yourself checked out to be safe. I hope you're OK, let us know please and take care....

My lawyers are working on getting the hearing now. I have been in the process since March, I think? Actually, it may have been March last year? Gosh, I am not sure...the other brain disease I have makes me have VERY many memory issues. :(

My hearing is in a about a week. It took over 2 years to get to this point and it's a frustrating, lengthy process. Stick to it and I wish you luck!!

starting the process today of getting short term disability - I need a break from work, I just can't seem to focus or get work done correctly no matter what meds I am on. I am already on a path to being fired, I have been told that in writing. I am hoping that a short term break from work and time to clear my head will help. Has anyone else used short term disability to help get there life straight?

I don't think your job can legally fire you. What does your doctor have to say about it? A break is one thing and that's different, maybe considered a leave. But to fire you seems wrong....that's just my opinion and I could be wrong. Good luck.
