Hi Yall,
When I as a kid I used to have asthma but I grew out of it so my question is can some one w seizures grew out of them???
Im just curious cause I when to my annual doctors visit for my seizures and my doctor didnt see the use for me to be taking my meds anymore.

Hi Friend,
Just read your writings , I trying understand , you now no longer have Asthma , but ,I can tell you from experience that I was born with Epilepsy and I was born with it back in 1967 when the Doctors made mistakes . fFor the last 3 years my Epilepsy has been under control with medication , no smoking, no hard drugs, no alcohol, that is how I live.I hope this helps....

@ Francess67 ~ I was saying since I grew out of Asthma I would also grow out of my seizures as well. ANd was just wondering generally if ppl can grow out of seizures

A study in the Netherlands showed 7 in 10 children outgrow seizures by age 20. The results showed if they were started on meds at the onset so that they had few seizures early on they had a good chance of outgrowing them. So there are factors to be considered. They had to be seizure free for 5 years to be thought of as "out grown".

Now, on the flip side...I met someone who had seizures as a child...was taken off meds and many years later had a gran mal. If a person uses alcohol, drugs, is highly stressed then they can have a seizure.

So the way I see it is that the seizure disorder is merely dormant but never truly gone.
