Ask your cousin to start a Journal. It will be a VERY useful tool for her & her DRS. :) Info about what should be included can be found under the Recommendation tab above. Also, encourage her to do 'homework' about her disorder. EP&/OR MS. The more she knows, the easier it will be to deal w/ her DRS & 'cope' w/ her disorder.

Before my diagnosis of "Chronic Neuro Lyme Disease", I, too, was told that it was possible that I had MS. I was also told it was possible that I had lupus. I have neither. The Lupus has been ruled out numerous times with blood work & the MS was ruled out durring my last spinal tap (of which, I have now probably had approx 2 dozen). I also have a seizure/movement disorder. My lyme has been found in my spinal fluid as well as an elevated protein level each time it is taken. My current Neuro says that though my seizures do baffle him (they are mainly only right sided, but can last from seconds to the longest being 12 hours-I was taken by ambulance for that one, but it is not unusual for them to last hours at a time) anyway...he says he will not write me off, that we are in this together. It's nice to know that I have SOME doctors who stick by me. What I was really trying to get at with telling you this, is that it might not hurt for your cousin to request a Lyme test. I don't know if she has any other symptoms, but MS has a host of symptoms, as does lyme. Not just the seizures. My symptom list is so extensive that it would take me forever to write!

I wish your cousin good luck on her search for answers & I agree with dancer51...a journal is an invaluable tool for her to keep. I kept one for the longest time before they finally reached a definitive answer for me.
Things that we might not think important, can really be a big help to the doctors. Best of luck!

Pink - Has she asked him why he won't make a dx? Is there something missing that keeps him from saying MS? Must be strange to have no answers from her current neuro - I can understand her wanting a new one. This is an area where a pt needs to have a high level of confidence in their MD.

I'd think Georgetown wd have a good neuro dpt, or if she can get to B'more, Hopkins. She's in an area that's full of exc medical centers. Or UVA, if she's willing to go south (I'm clueless on the distance from DC to Charlottesville).
