I have complex partial seizures and have had them for about 17 years now. Mine started out of no where one day I couldnt talk. One minute I was talking the next, I new what I wanted to say, but couldnt say it. Found out I had a tangling of veins in my brain and had that removed, but still have seizures from it. I have been taking tegretol and Lamictal for the last 7 years, but Dr is trying to get me off Tegretol and move to Keppra, always nervous when moving to a new drug, cause I had a lot of problems with Topomax. Anyways my seizures usually come out of no where and I have a feeling that I cant describe when I know wthey are coming. Ive noticed that if I dont sleep well, it makes it worse. When I begin a seizure I everything starts sounding very loud and weird to me then I can understand what people are saying and cant talk to them. I usually start awake. But Im super tired and very confused afterwards. I have bad headaches from the seizures. Almost like my brain ran a marathon. What type of meds are you on. How long have you been having seizures. When I have what I call a "large/longer lasting" seizure sometimes for days Im very confused and feel like Im not talking correctly. Good luck and let me know whats going on

I have ben having seizures for 2 year now almost three. It started after I got off of pain medication. I took it for pelvic congestion syndrome and endometriosis. I have not taken them in two years. In fact I get an infection noow and need them I have to go to the ER its embarrassing. I take zonisamide for my seizures. I totally understamd about not being able to understand people or knowing a word. I wish other people did too. I blew a job interview earlier this summer. The words just werent there I wanted to cry but I didnt I waited for the moment to pass and worked through the fogginess. All I could do. I dont know if my headaches come before or after but I have been loopy all week and have had severe migraines hubby and dr said if it isnt gone by tomorrow he was taking me to the ER for a shot and I really dont want to go. I hate feeling so confused and so foggy. but i will get through it today one thing at a time.

what do you do before you have a seizure can you tell? I try to lay down. But mostly everything just makes me feel so dizzy I feel scared and the next thing i know is im being told i had a seizure and ive fallen.

The med called Topomax wasnt good for me cause I was having bad side effects from it. But it is also a med for migraine headaches. This is something to discuss with your Dr. My Dr wanted me on it cause I get migraines a lot. Google it and see what you think

I had a very bad experience with topomax, wanted to kill someone, all I could do to not be violent. doing ok on keppra/trileptal/zonisamide but I am sleepy a lot.

I suffer from memory issues and concentration issues that is keeping me from doing quality work. My Dr. is trying multiple drugs in a the cocktail to try and get just the right mix so I stay in control but not "out of it".

Sleep deprivation is a know seizure trigger, so avoid not getting enough sleep.

I can kind of feel the small ones coming as you say just don't feel right. But when I have had a bad seizure they just come out of the blue. I also get headaches afterwords that can last for days.

hang in there and keep your DR. informed of how you are doing including the side effects.

I've been having seizures since a bad car accident in 1997. Aside from broken bones, I had a brain injury (in a coma for 8 days) resulting in epilepsy. My road to recovery was quick, yet epilepsy haunts me. Currently I am transitioning meds - from Carbotrol to Lamictal. For the past 7 or so years I've been on Carbotrol but still had seizures, about 1 a month on the dot. I was foggy, forgetful and drousy most of the time. I pushed my way through Highschool, College with a 3.2 and am currently working with youth in my community. I did try Isogenics (a natural protein mix) and had a positive response, but slacked on taking it and seizures returned. Since the Dr. began weening me to Lamictal I havent had a seizure, about 4.5 months!! Recently I experienced a mood change which freaks me out. I am a social, positive guy, so this sensitive feeling I got was whack!
I do give God all the glory for my well being and protection over the years. I have had seizures all over. I had 2 while driving, 1 in the dentist office, 1 while I was snowboarding, 1 in a German airport, countless ones in bed @ night (Grand maul), a few @ home...

Various things that trigger the seizures I had were: Sleep deprivation, poor diet, lack of exercise or staying active, missing medication times.

I had a seizure last night they said it was because i was dehydrated. yet another thing to worry about

meganK08 you should try isagenix or some other high protein powder. I took Isagenix ery day for 6 months and remained seizure free until I slacked on taking it. It's worth a try beings seizures suck so bad. Good luck. -Swimsuit Shane

I've had Epilepsey for 33 years. I have both types of seizures and do take Keppra which has helped. I also take Ethosuximide (Zarontin). I think the thing that helped me the most was finding out what seizures are. . . .then that helped me understand why I was so out of it after a seizure, sore as could be, chewed up tongue and I could always bank on a bruise somewhere. When I was first diagnosed, I was so embarassed and didn't get over the embarassment until I was in my late 20's. People still to this day would ask "What do you have to be embarassed about?" I still don't know why but was. I've had migranes before but I don't think mine had to do with my seizures. If there is anything I can do, please let me know. I hope that helped!

I was diagnosed earlier this year. Definitely scary! I would have blank out episodes then I would have episodes where I would randomly pass out. It was totally embarrassing, especially when I was in public or with my friends who had no idea or didn't understand. It was really weird because I was already on an anti seizure med for the migraines, so my doctor just put me on a very high dose. It help a lot! But I can tell a huge difference if I miss a dose, so I'm very strict about taking it and I'm careful when I drive and I'm sure to get enough sleep, not too drink much(alcohol) stuff like that. I had another seizure last night. I didnt have to go to the hospital my husband just found me passed out in the bathroom. Why is it always there? I know when I have a seizure I feel like i have to puke then poof but really. I called my dr this morning Hw wants to do a video EEG in January Ive never heard of one and dont know what one is. I hate doing EEGs because I always get a headache from the lights afterward. JUst needed to vent seizures scare me. but i will try to go about my day like normal and pray that another one does not sneak up on me. sometimes they come in twos. I hope today is better I need it to be I havent been doing well just anxious about a lot going on holidays. LOL I dont know what to get my husband for the holiday he is so hard to shop for. He wont make me a list either he wants to be suprised. Men. Well I better go rest its probably what triggered it.
