I can't say that I have but I do know I have been told if I have surgery, I would have to have some more testing done to see if I would have any motor, speech or memory problems. Have you checked with your doctor about it?

Yes, I have had this problem. I was at the flee market one day, and a friend came up to say hello, and I went blank, I was looking at him knew who he was, but was unable to say anything. I felt like an idiot. Oh well.

My family and I noticed I have "a loss of words"and slurred speech after an episode or if I get nervous, and my memory is becoming an issue. This may be a side effect of medication, in my case???

well, when i have one...i have lost my speech...i dont know what i am saying, i am out of it, and when i come around..i still cannot speak for a while, but i eventually do regain my speech...so yes, i also blurr at times at the mouth and cannot speak or communicate with others...seizures has control of all of my body functions...

Yes. I was at my desk one day and my co worker came in and started talking to me and I did not answer and just stared at her. I was awake but did not talk. I do not even remember that event. It turns out that my MD said that I had a seizure while I was awake.

I can't vouche anyone else's expericences, but every time I have an "episode", as my family refers to my seizures, I lose all sense of speech. I can be carrying on a conversation with someone, feel one coming on, but before I get the chance to warn anyone "hey, I feel one coming", I've already had it. And if I succeed in trying to talk, my speech is so slurred and extremely slow, it's pretty incomprehensible.

I talked to my epitologist about not being able to speak. I want to say something but its like my mouth doesnt work. My doctor tells me this is a partial complex siezure that is accuring in the speech area of the brain. I have also had problems with partial complex siezures that have effected my hearing either not being able to hear or having ringing in my ears. I went so far as to have a hearing test because of that. It was the ENT doc that said I should tell my neuro about my hearing and ringing problems. Thats when I told him about the speech problems too and was told what that it was all partial complex. I hope this helps.

Also have similar issues as those previously posted. Feels like I have swollen tongue and my mouth just won't work! Very disturbing.

Thank you all for your posts. I am glad to know that I am not alone in this. I happen to have MS and when I told my neurologist about my speech issue he told me that it is not due to my MS but to my epilepsy.

I also have this.. before and after.. I try to talk but my body won't cooperate. that is how I know that I'm going to have a seizure. When I first started doing this.. I was frightened.. NOW.. it's like "here we go" When I'm coming out.. my speech comes in sputtered words...My body will not work. My hands will not move it will just contract into weird positions. at first it hurts but then I can't feel anything. my eyes start to blink and then I can't focus on anything. and I can't hear anything just mumbled words.. but I know that someone is talking. So NO your not alone with this...

just to clear up something in the last post... when my hands or in weird positions.. that is when I"m going into a seizure..not coming out of one, and my eyes and everything that too is when I"m going into one..
