That is so not safe.....you really need to get to a Dr. OTC meds are still drugs. I'm sorry that your allergies are so bad, though........wish I had a solution

If you overuse them, they have a rebound effect. See if your doc can get something stronger, or consider allergy shots.
I'm in the same boat though!! My allergies have been awful this year.

My sinuses have been horrible for 2 weeks now after a long stretch of being better.....It feels like my nose is broken.It swells up so much! you can see the swelling visibly in the mirror.
I always wondered if it was truley allergies because my nose never runs or my eyes never get itchy...just the swelling of the sinuses which triggers brutal headaches! does your nose get runny or do you just have the swelling? also I get a little relief from Zyrtec but not immediate relief..Like 2 days after i start it up,the swelling seems to abate a bit....Ibuprofen helps the swelling but bothers my stomach.sometimes eating something hot and spicey helps it a little.

oh man moonstruckme, that is exactly right!!! i dont get watery eyes or a runny nose or anything...i wondered also for a long time whether it is really allergies and i think it is its just that it affects us differently. i went to the doc and she gave me veramyst. i think its awfully pricey if you dont have insurance but its been working like a charm for me what do you take? have you ever tried sinus rinses?

I have used saline sprays and they seem to help a little.sometimes they just seem to help it drain a bit.I nerver tried veramyst.Is it a steroid spray? I've tried flonase and I forget all the others..oh nasacort too.they dont seem to help too much.I think they even irritate my nose.I'm so sorry your suffering too.It is nice to not feel so wierd with my problem and know someone else feels the same though...this morning I didnt wake up with a headache and I was sooo happy!Before i went to bed I cleaned my window fan really good and got all the dust out of it.It wasnt really all that dirty but I was desperate to do something.It might have actually helped a little bit.......I hope you feel better soon..!

yep veramyst is similar to flonase, i tried flonase and got a migraine...dont know if thats what caused it but i never used it after that. I have a machine by i think sonicare it was about 30 bux and and it pumps water and a saline solution through your sinuses. it doesnt hurt and the gentle pressure i think helps push the pollen and crap out of your sinuses. i dont know really how much help it is when allergens are high but i dont think it hurts me to do it i know it helps in the winter

I have had allergies all my life, i always had a dark red nose, and red eyes, and feel like I'm about to die. But you shouldn't overdose, and nothing will fully help it, the thing that would help the most would be allergy shots

Try Xlear. It is safe and effective. I did 6 years of immunotherapy, had rhinoplasty, and moved to a better climate. Xlear had a greater impact.!

#besler17 I think it's not a god idea to take medicine without to consult a doctor. Maybe another medication can help you . .

Edumore: it's not a good idea to take drugs...I mean medicine at all. There are safe alternatives.

Allergy shots have changed my life. It's been a full year now and I can say they kicked in within a month and started helping. One thing that really helps is the allergy testingknowing for sure what is getting you so badly (not just "mold," but each species, not just "grass," but these kinds and in varying degrees). Take control and fight back.

you might have a sinus infection as a result of complications from allergies. The swelling of the nose thing is usually a sinus infection. Ask your doc about it, and they will prescribe antibiotics. You can also get chronic sinusitis, and that tends to go away and come back a lot.
ask your doctor about singulair as well, it's kinda an immune suppresor, supposed to help control allergies pretty well
