I've had swollen glands in my neck, a swollen larynx, and hoarseness for the past few days. The outside of my throat is also sore to touch and gets red. The inside of my throat is fine and it doesn't hurt to swallow. No fever, nothing else. When it rains it gets worse. It sometimes goes away after the rain. In the past I had it and it stayed for over two years straight! The ENT could find no reason for it. Is this allergy-related? Has anyone else had this? If so is there anything that can be done? Nothing I do seems to help. I take 20mg reactine that is supposed to last 24 hours, avamys a corticosteroid nasal spray for allergies. I also take symbicort, ventolin, and singulair for asthma.

May I ask if you have seen an ear/nose specialist?

I was seen by an Ear, Nose, and Throat specialist when I had the hoarseness that lasted over two years. in that time i also problems with my salivary glands swelling. He did a salivary gland x-ray and looked at my vocal cords and checked them. Everything came back normal. He did say some people have problems with salivary gland swelling. This is the same thing happening again except hopefully the hoarseness and swelling goes away. I've recurrent salivary gland swelling as well.

It could be due to my environmental allergies. I'm wondering if it could be due to reflux since I have many of the symptoms such as: belching, sore throat, hoarseness, and acid indigestion. When my throat gets sore and I become hoarse I feel a burning pain in the back of my throat and feel the need to belch.

Maybe-too bad you won't get paid for a self diagnosis though :)

I really wish! My doctor doesn't take me seriously anyway! I have no faith in her! There's a huge lack of family doctor's here so I'm stuck with her!

Well if you're stuck with her then you have to keep yacking in her ear about this till she acts upon it1

The left lymph gland under my left jaw is always swollen. Both sides are really swollen in the morning. Is this all due to allergies?
