I'm new here and had about heat exhaustion and dehydration. I'm fair skinned so I'm already prone to getting bad sunburns and one of my blood pressure medications(diltiazem) makes me even more sensitive to the sun. I applied sunscreen every where but my face. I usually don't like putting in on my face because it makes my glasses greasy and I worry about it clogging my pores. I was out for several hours today at a cultural festival where there's very little shade. I was out in the sun but then did put my chair under a tree. I did stand and move out in the open for a better view sometimes and also got some food. I reapplied my sunscreen because it's really hot. I did drink some soda, a bottle of water, ate a snow cone, and had some cinnamon ice tea. I was there from 11am until almost 5pm and only had to go to the bathroom once. I got sunburns on my face, the back of my neck, collarbone area, my arms and my legs from slightly above the knee area all the way down to the tops of my ankles. My face and back of my neck being the worst. I was sweating when I came home and took a cool shower. I've been drinking like crazy and have been putting a lot of 98% aloe vera gel on my burns. I stopped sweating even though I'm still really hot. I'm sitting in the fan(no a/c third floor apartment). I have a bad headache, am breathing fast, feel dizzy, weak and nauseous. Is it heat exhaustion, dehydration or both? Is there anything else I can do besides keep drinking fluids and using the aloe vera gel? I still feel horrible today and my sunburn is still very red and painful. I learned my lesson no more neglecting sunscreen on my face and no more staying outside in the sun for long periods or time no matter what' type of festival is going on.
