Hi everyone! My 4 year old is highly allergic to dust mites. Her face swells and her lips start to peel and her face turns this grayish color then her eyes get a red ring around them and they swell up. Then she breaks out in ezcema/atopic dermatitis rashes all over I guess its what they call a "flare-up". She will literally scratch her skin off it itches so bad. So I bathe her in a bleach bath every few days to kill any staff bacteria she might have picked up. I've got every kind of steroid. Nothing works. Does anyone have any experience with this kind of allergic reaction?
I also suffer from allergies to dust mites, dog dander--extremely, egg whites, red pepper, chilli powder, mold-which is in leaves this time of year, and others. My guess would be that it is just not dust mites.
My guess would be it is something else besides dust mites. Now that I am over 60, I have developed some kind of allergy to foods. Not really sure what exactly. Scratch tests don't reveal enough of what someone is allergic to.
I am presently taking an injection once every two weeks called Dupixent. (sp?) It helps some, but I still break out on my face. It turns red and I swell up like the Hulk. Then I am put on a steroids, which clears it up for about a month.
When I was young my mom would put me to bed with white socks on, so I wouldn't scratch my skin open.
Try keeping a food journal of what she eats, that might be helpful.
