Is there anything I can do to limit my exposure? I live in a carpeted apartment with tile flooring in the kitchen and the bathroom. I vacuum as much as I can but the vacuum isn't one that is approved for asthma and allergies. I need to find out that is good for allergies and I know an air cleaner would be good as well. I dust at least once a week. I can't wear a face mask when I dust, clean or vacuum because they make me feel like I'm suffocating. My dust mite allergy is really severe and makes my asthma much worse. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You might watch like goodwill stores for a vacuum or air cleaner? But what about tying a kerchief around your face and something my husband taught me-to shower after and change your clothes

I can keep an eye out for good deals on vacuums and air cleaners. Even a kerchief around my face would bother me. I have a really hard time with wearing a scarf on my face during the winter.

I get immunotherapy shots which helps me fight off the dust mite allergy. Have you considered it? Before starting immunotherapy I had about 13 sinus and upper respiratory infections in one year. After they did a series of tests on me, they realized that I was not only allergic to trees, grass, mold, but dust mites and even roaches (imagine that). Now I may have one infection per year.

I'm glad that allergy shots helped you. I did try them but had to stop after having a severe allergic reaction to my 4th shot which required a Benadryl shot and my epi pen. I am very prone to anaphalaxis. I carry the epi pen for a severe allergy to tree nuts, strawberries and ct contrast dye.
