Covid vaccine

Are most of you being cleared to get the vaccine? 
my dr wants clearance from an allergist/ immunologist before I get mine due to angioedema after infections lately 


I'm really anxious to get the vaccine and also anxious not to

I understand your anxiety! I'm not cleared to get the vaccine, due to the reported cases of anaphylaxis. Because of my previous anaphylactic reactions to numerous medications, my doctors feel the risk is too great (and I agree with them).

I think your doctor is correct in waiting until you have clearance from an allergist/immunologist, given your history of angioedema and hives. I hope that you'll be approved to get the vaccine, if you want it.

Hugs. I felt the same way when my hubby and I were deciding whether he should get the vaccine. We ultimately decided that the risk of him getting horribly sick or dying from COVID-19 was greater than the possibility of severe side effects from the vaccine. He received the Moderna version, and apart from a strange rash on his lower legs that hasn't gone away and recurring pain in his arm at the injection site, he hasn't had any side effects.

If you receive clearance from your allergist to get the vaccine, I'd encourage you to do so, for the same reason I urged my hubby to get it. COVID-19 can kill you. Per the CDC, while rare cases of anaphylaxis and severe side effects have been reported, there is no evidence that anyone has died directly from receiving either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines. (There does seem to be a causal relationship between the Johnson & Johnson/Janssen vaccine and blood clots with low platelets, and people have died from those.)
