I wish you could get ahold of an air cleaner...they move fresh air about and might help you feel better...or we could stick a vacuum nosel up your nose huh :)

A lot of the time it's not the mucus in my sinuses that bothers me but the inflammation. Reactine dries everything out unless I have a cold. I really do need an air cleaner and several air conditioners.

IN the meantime you visit someone with an a/c for as long as you can-right :)

Have you seen an ENT doctor? Mine took a CT of my sinuses, found out my terminates are 85 percent blocked/too big. He can do surgery, but I want to wait until I know more about it, and try allergy shots.

Unfortunately, to see my ENT I'd have to get my family doctor to refer me. My family doctor has been on maternity leave since December. She has had a couple of doctors replace her off and on. Right now the office is closed until August 13th. My ENT checked my vocal cords but never did look at my sinuses. My allergist did mention allergy shots. I would want to find out more before surgery as well. I've heard sinus surgery is incredibly painful.

yrs ago, I had tried almost everything out there for sinus issues, and was at the pt where I was being told that surgery was the only option. My mom suggested taking huge doses of vitamin c. I didn't really think it would help, but also did not want the surgery.

i tried it and it worked.....then eventually tried taking less vitamin c and got the sinus problems rt back.....upped the vit c and they went away, tried decreasing and they came back.....have experimented with amt many times over the yrs and have found the same results.

If you want to try it, it is pretty harmless, bc the body gets rid of excess amts, though if you increase the vit c too fast, you can wind up with diarrhea. Vit d is another immune booster that may help and many people are low in it. It is possible to take too much of it, though, unlike with vit c, so if possible it may be worth getting your levels checked first.

I'm and just out from an outpatient procedure called balloon sinuplasty. It took 20 minutes to do 4 sinus passage ways. I went in at 2:30, filled out paperwork, did some pre-procedure prep. I sat in shorts and a T-shirt like a dentists office and listened to some neat music during the procedure. I was done at 3:40.

I'd like to keep folks posted on how I make out. Years of sinus pain, pressure, fatigue and headaches.

My symptoms have been

It appears that much of my sinus problem has been due to a structural aspect of my sinuses.

The discernment of the issue involved an in office visit, 5 minute CAT scan and we all did blood work on allergies.

Please keep us updated on your progress itsjustme. I'd be interested to know your outcome. I've never had an ct scan of my sinuses.

Sounds less painful than what my husband described he went thru as a child when they vacuumed out his sinuses-he said it was the weirdest sound and feelkng and never wanted to have it done again!

Try a Neli bottle that squirts water up your nose to irrigate your sinuses. This will clean the pollen out of your sinuses. Sometimes I use two bags of the Neli powder and when I get really desperate I open up a cap of Benadryl and dump it in to the sinus rinse.

I know this thread is over a year old, but my procedure will be in-office. Just as described, the prep for it (local anesthetics) takes longer than the procedure, my ENT said.

I hope your balloon sinusplasty goes well MGOhio! I use NetiRinse but can only use it about three days otherwise it gets worse. I had a really bad sinus infection for over a month that required two different antibiotics to clear. The ENT ordered sinus ct but that's not scheduled until March 11th so I will have to just suffer until then I guess.

I'm plagued with allergies nonstop, which means that my sinuses get affected as well. Every day I'd wake up with a stuffy nose and sneezing fits and I really had no idea why. When I got to work or left the house though, I started to feel a little better... which was weird. It had me thinking that it had something to do with the air in my house.
