Allergic Laryngitis

Anyone else deal with this? Today my larynx is really swollen along with the glands in my throat. My whole throat hurts. I live in an apartment with poor air quality and lots of my allergens such as dust and mold. I'm exposed to them constantly. We're moving at the end of April. I'm using numbing lozenges and tried soup and hot chocolate. The lozenges help for a while. Due to my asthma and high blood pressure I can't take any sinus medications. My sinuses are also swollen. My corticosteroid nasal spray didn't help.

The inside of my throat and the outside hurt when I talk or eat or swallow liquids.

Yes, I have been feeling better for a while thankfully but this happens quite often.

Glad to hear you're moving-not sure if an portable air cleaner would help in such conditions at the moment..
Is Robitussin an sinus meds? Because that helps with sore throats and congestion

Feel better..hey,they have those disposable masks you could wear?

On the other hand-with your asthma..perhaps the mask may make things worse :(

They do have disposable masks but I'm not sure if they would help. I think robitussein helps with coughs and congestion.

This sort of thing has been almost constant for me. The winter was horrible-down for what seemed like forever. Now Spring and it's allergic woes and I am right back where I started from. My throat is aching so bad, stuffy nose, fatique like no tomorrow. Can't even go out in or after the rain or on windy days. I have tried everything-Flonase, Nasonex, to no avail. Saline rinses help some as does Nasalcrom but you have to constantly keep up the regime to have any longstanding effective relief. My only answer is praying everyday for relief.

One thing my doctor showed me with the steroid nasal sprays. With your head in a normal level position, put the spray nozzle on the bottle in a nostril but point to the outside (away from center) inside your nose. This way the spray gets in the sinuses better and not down the back of your throat. Worked great for me. A lot of times with allergies, it's the post nasal drip irritating your throat. Suppress it and the throat feels better. I also get relief from taking Singular along with my Advair and Flonase. On really bad days, Ice pack first thing in the morning or right before bed on the sinuses can take down some swelling.
