Endometriosis is a common medical condition where the tissue lining the uterus is found outside of the uterus, typically affecting other organs in the pelvis. The condition can lead to serious health problems, primarily pain and infertility. A major symptom of endometriosis is pain, mostly in the lower abdomen, lower back, and pelvic area.
Ok so I went to Cleveland Clinic the other day as a follow up appointment to settle nerves and please my gyno because he wanted to cover everything. So I AM scheduled for surgery on Aug 15th (thrill!). The discussion went a little like this:
He agrees I probably have endo as when he felt NOTHING moved. He suggested a lap, he said he didn't care one way or another about a tubal as its MY decision and only I know what I want (FINALLY!!!!), a D&C and he suggested an IUD. As most of you know I am completely one hundred percent against IUD's for the following reasons:
1. I get frequent infections: yeast, BV, etc.
2. When I use tampons (which isn't often) they fall out.
3. On EVERY birth control I ever used I bleed like crazy I don't see how this would be any different.
4. Weight gain/mood changes/breast tenderness, etc.
5. It just doesn't sound normal to have something in your uterus for that long that. That goes back to having it fall out and infections. ewwww!
As most of you know I got off birth control and feel fantastic- no painful boobs, no weight gain, no PAIN, so I am VERY hesitant about getting an IUD put in.
However, now my uterus feels heavy and like it cant move and I'm nauseous every day. I am NOT pregnant as far as I know (I've tested once a week for 3 weeks with 3 different tests haha I'm anal what can I say?) But does anyone else experience this? If so what is it?!
I would love to know what everyone thinks of my new game plan and the IUD which I am TERRIFIED of.

My uterus often fills heavy and painful to the touch....I'm not sure what it is...I suspect I have adeno so I think it's probably from this. So that could also make it not move...but adhesions could also be to blame for that too.
Personally I want to try the mirena, because there have been studies showing it's very helpful in reducing endo growth post-excision...however I never did end up getting it in and my endo has already returned. The doctor I saw last who is an endo specialist really encourages mirena, but I couldn't have it put in right a way or during surgery because I had a myomectomy (fibroid removal) and needed time for my uterus to heal. That said, there are serious concerns (uterine perforation being my main one as I've already had that once during hysteroscopy) with it and there's nothing wrong with refusing to try it!
I get nauseated from BC / changing BC so I think that could be quite normal until your hormones go back to normal. I could never get it under control so I don't take any BC anymore, I also bled nonstop on every pill I tried.
I don't think issues with tampons would mean much with regard to IUD as they sit in different places, but still don't give in to pressure if you are not 100% comfortable with it. It's totally your choice.
As far a doctor refusing to take it out I think that would be crazy and I would not want to see such a doctor anyway!
Can't speak for if it might work longer than the pill or not as everyone is so different and to top it off the levels of hormones are a lot different...very little goes in your bloodstream with mirena due to it being mostly local. This is good for someone like me who gets super sick from the pill but might not be good for you with your history of infections.
I am at that point with Lupron, I refuse to try it even though all the doctors i have seen are pushing it.
I decided to give mirena a try and it was going well, but my skin has broken out so terribly that I am asking my doctor to remove it tomorrow. I think that if you do try it any doctor would take it out if you request it. I also have a history of severe acne so it isn't like it came completely out of nowhere.
the one other thing i have noticed that I honestly don't know if its related to the mirena or not but I have been so absent-minded since I had it put it. One of my friends compared it to "pregnancy brain". I can't seem to remember important things as well and had some trouble learning my new responsibilities at work. Again, no idea if its related but those are really the only side effects I have experienced. I also may be facing another lap already.
Hormones can have crazy effects on your body, so I definitely think the nausea can be from coming off the pill. if you have taken tests i would try not to worry too much. :)
I really had high hopes for mirena and if it wasn't for the acne I would probably stick it out. I just dealt with it for too long when I was younger so it's not a side effect I can deal with, even though it seems like a small thing. As far as I have found, unfortunately there isn't much treatment out there for us besides things we are uncomfortable with so I think they have to figure out some alternatives.
