The condition can lead to serious health problems, primarily pain and infertility. A major symptom of endometriosis is pain, mostly in the lower abdomen, lower back, and pelvic area.

Yay! Finally seeing a true specialist!

After much research, I found a true endo specialist in my area and have an appt the day after Thanksgiving. Never thought I'd be so happy to see a gyno! ;) He is the director of a practice of gynecologists that solely focus on pelvic pain, mostly endometriosis. Based on my research, it sounds like he has some things I haven't tried. He also is a professor and a researcher in pelvic pain and is internationally known.

So...what questions should I make sure to ask?

Awesome! If you don't mind telling us roughly where you live, what's his name? It's possible someone's had experience with his practice.

You should have some idea going in (though be open to his advice) on what things you are and aren't willing to consider. Like, when I had my first consult with my current gyno, I said "I am not at this point willing to consider Lupron because I have a history of depression and am worried about the psych side effects." If you feel strongly like that about any treatment, let him know.

Like JMitchell mentioned if you have any strong feelings or concerns about anything let him know. If you put in that much research to find him, Im sure your knowledge base is strong enough to assists you in questions. I guess at least for me the ability to work with a competent DR who doesnt disregard me or see my willingness to be my own advocate as a good thing. Also try and trust yourself a little, woman have wonderful instincts, but with something like this we can feel so out of control that we dismiss our instincts as untrustworthy. Im now on my second Specialist, first time I was luck enough to have already been with a GYN who was, second time going into it differently I looked for someone who was a Specialist but also very up to date on research and surgical methods, although for me its the last thing Id want keep me closed up if at all possible, but I know enough now to know it might not be possible so. I cant say Im entirely thrilled yet; turns out shes such a specialist that Ive never met her, but only her RNs, but they seem very specialized as well. Not easy choosing a DR, good luck!
