Endometriosis Support Group
Endometriosis is a common medical condition where the tissue lining the uterus is found outside of the uterus, typically affecting other organs in the pelvis. The condition can lead to serious health problems, primarily pain and infertility. A major symptom of endometriosis is pain, mostly in the lower abdomen, lower back, and pelvic area.
I was diagnosed with endometriosis via laparoscopic surgery. I had the surgery because my OBGYN felt strongly that I had endometriosis after assessing my symptoms. I did have an ultrasound done before, but it was because my doctor wanted to make sure that it wasn't anything else that could be causing the pain and other symptoms. You're right in that endometriosis tissue does not appear on ultrasounds. I really hope that your scan goes well. Hang in there!
