So I've been on Lupron, the monthly shot and just had my 4th shot a week before x-mas. For what ever reason the past 2 shots aren't working :(

Last month I had a period and my endo pain came back and I think I'm ovulating again as for me the pain is more associated with ovulation then my actual monthly.

I'm perplexed as the first 2 shots worked wonderfully and I was def in menopause and the pain went away and I had all the fun menopause like symptoms.

Now these past 2 shots that haven't been working quite as well, I'm still having menopause like symptoms, warm flashes, muscle and joint pain, constipation and in general just not being able to get comfortable. But I'm also getting my monthly symptoms again, fatigue, irritable, cramping, muscle tension etc. The pain has also come back, not as bad, its manageable, but I felt better when the shot was working full force. Not sure what is going on.

Also a new symptom that has come on since I got my past shot is that I'm starving all the time and nothing seems to cure my hunger pangs. I've been eating and snacking all day today and still feel hungry. Also if I'm working or doing something where I don't eat for a period of time I start to get a sour stomach from an empty stomach. The good thing is that I don't appear to be gaining any weight from this....

No one seems to know what is going on and my gyno is stumped as well as none of her other patients have had these symptoms.

I'm now wondering what to do? Do I stay on the shot since its semi working and my pain is manageable and I can function in society or do I need to find another treatment all together....still wondering weather my meds weren't mixed right or watered down? Has anyone else gone thro this?

I am so sorry to hear of your concerns and pains, dear one. I regret that I cannot help on the Lupron front, as I have chosen not to go that route. I did want to share that traditional Chinese medicine -- herbs and acupuncture -- have been excellent for me. You could use them with Lupron or as an alternative should Lupron turn out not to suit you. Also Dian Shepperson Mills' book "Nutrition: A Key to Healing Endometriosis" has all sorts of natural remedies which could mix with your current choices. Always good to have more options! Good luck.

I got those symptoms while on the Lupron shot. But in the end it was because I was a few days pass the time it was to get my second shot.. Make sure you are getting it the same time every month.. My doc is the best and she informed me every step of the way.. Lupron brings the hot flashes and all those symptoms.. Call your doctor and see what are your options and steps to take to feel better... I hope I have helped..

Thank you for your kind words whitedeer, I will look into that book. I do try to do a lot of the hippie dippy stuff as they say. :) I tried Reiki recently a 15 min session. She gave me a free consultation before, she just put her hands on my shoulders and pinpointed all my bad spots. (Knees, lower abdomen, throat/possible thyroid issues and joint pain) It was really soothing and I had a nice energy surge for the rest of the day afterwards, the pain and side effects also subsided. I've done massage and that also seems to work for a few days, I wish I could get a full body massage daily. :) I tried acupuncture, they had someone come into my work on health and wellness day and he did a demo on my arm. I liked it however I'm not sure if I should do it or not as I still have bright red spots on my skin where he put the needles and this was over a month ago.

I do my best to keep my mind, body and spirit in check and physically I've been doing my best to remember to take my vitamins and supplements daily, watch my diet and exercise. I try to pray and meditate and do something I enjoy everyday to keep things in balance.

Shawntae96-I get my shot the 18, 19 or 20th of every month. However when my monthlies came back after cancer treatment they were closer together 20-24 days apart as opposed to 28-30, so perhaps it might be worth looking into getting it sooner as it will be more in sync with my cycle.

I'm just not sure what to do as my periods are coming back, its all so confusing.... :(

I felt great the first three months I was on lupron excluding the first couple weeks where things get worse. When I went for my second shot (I did the three month shots) she asked if I was having any problems...I told her I was having some sleeping issues and hot flashes but they were doable. She asked if I was taking the add-back and I said she never gave it to me....so I started taking it with that shot...and it was awful!!! My pain came back worse than it had been before I started Lupron (I believe this is because the add-back has estrogen in it...and I already have too much esptrogen. I felt great with just the lupron because it shut that off...but taking the add back was putting estrogen back in my body).

I hope that you are feeling a little better. One thing I love about my doctor is she gave and gives me all the bad news up front so I can be prepared and she gives me options. She told me that Lupron does not work for everyone. It's out there as an option but it might not work.
