Endometriosis is a common medical condition where the tissue lining the uterus is found outside of the uterus, typically affecting other organs in the pelvis. The condition can lead to serious health problems, primarily pain and infertility. A major symptom of endometriosis is pain, mostly in the lower abdomen, lower back, and pelvic area.
How do drs treat an endometrioma cyst? I think I might have one. Do they treat them differently than other cysts?
From what I've been told, they should be removed surgically because they're more damaging than regular cysts, and commonly more painful.
Ive had a billion simple ovarian cysts large and small rupture, and that hurts REALLY bad. How long have you had this pain? Does your pelvis swell? Any other symptoms?
have you had an ultrasound or CT scan? They may be able to tell you if its a chocolate cyst (endometrioma) or a simple cyst.
You should go to your OB/GYN and have an ultrasound to see what it is; maybe a cyst ruptured, maybe you have a large cyst, or maybe they can tell if its an endometrioma. how big it is etc. If its a simple ovarian cyst over i think 6cm they surgically remove it with a lap. If its a ruptured cyst, the pain will subside in a few days, and if its an endometrioma the OB/GYN will help you decide on surgery. Hope this helps! Good luck and feel better!
So strangely, you can get cysts/endometriomas on the pill, while a lot of times thats how Dr's treat cysts...usually for most women the pill shrinks cysts, and they dont grow new ones. I guess unfortunately it is possible that you have another cyst, whether its a simple cyst, or an endometrioma.
P.S-also it could be scar tissue...did you have surgery on that ovary? I get a lot of pain from scar tissue on my right ovary because of all of the surgey's/cysts. It feels almost the same as a cyst! It also feels like somethings going to rupture! I'd get to the OB/GYN this week, and have an ultrasound to be on the safe side. Everythings gonna be okay!
