Traveling with Endo?

O.k. so the good news is I won a 7 day luxury vacation. I'm in the process of finalizing it with the hotel. I have a choice to either visit St. Martin, Las Vegas or Orlando. I'm still getting all the details.

But i'm absolutely petrified about how my endo is going to react to traveling. I haven't been on a plane since I"ve been dx'd almost 3 years ago now, so I'm not sure how my endo will tolerate that. Driving is also a pain in the butt for me as well. I'm not sure what it is but since getting endo, I get carsick really easily and driving for long distances aggravates my pain. I also don't want to get to my vacation and have to be stuck in my hotel the entire time because of it.

I just feel so angry about it. I used to enjoy traveling and seeing new places etc, but endo has put a stop to that. I know I'll kick myself if I forfeit the trip, and I'm taking one of my friends with me and don't want to be a burden to them the whole trip either.

Any advice? efff endo I want my life back!!!

Yay for you! Do it! Just warn your friend ahead of time that you will need time to rest. I would definitely fly. I'd look at it this way....if you are feeling sick, at least you are in a wonderful place!

I went on my first vacation a few months ago since getting diagnosed with endo 3 years ago, as well. I was worried, and I actually did get sick, but everything was okay! My friend was understanding and I got to relax and recuperate on the beach! You can take some dramamine on the plane. I took a few endo meds as a precaution and was fine.

Endo takes so much life away....don't let it take your vacation opportunity!

I travel a lot with endo. Best recommendation is to try to schedule your trip around the endo. Don't be on the trip a few days before or few days after your period starts. Also, if you have back pains and you'll be on a long flight (4+ hrs) be sure to stand up and walk around every couple hours.

Traveling with endo is no different than traveling before you knew you had endo. Only now YOU are in power because you have the tools to have a better time: knowledge. :-)

I've done quite a bit of traveling with endo with minimal issues. I also get carsick really easily. I take ginger capsules and Less Drowsy Dramamine. It works just as well as regular Dramamine without making you so sleepy. One thing I've found since being on birth control pills is I spot after I've flown so I always make sure I pack pads. I also stock up on these http://www.thermacare.com/lower-back-and-hip-heatwraps.
