Endometriosis Support Group
Endometriosis is a common medical condition where the tissue lining the uterus is found outside of the uterus, typically affecting other organs in the pelvis. The condition can lead to serious health problems, primarily pain and infertility. A major symptom of endometriosis is pain, mostly in the lower abdomen, lower back, and pelvic area.
I hate when celebrities minimize things that they could actually bring a lot of positive attention to.
This reminds me of when Sheryl Crow came out last year about her meningioma (brain tumor) and she completely minimized it, and was like it is ok, it is benign blah, blah blah. Well, I can tell you those of us in the brain tumor community and specifically those of us with meningioma's were pretty upset. There is nothing benign about having something grow in a small closed in space pushing and destroying a vital organ...UGH, people annoy me sometimes.
Sorry for the long rant, I'm a little grumpy today.
I was vegan, and it upped my energy but it did squat for my endo. I'm all for eating healthy, but I felt ecorazzi was belittling women with endo. If a vegan diet cured endo there wouldn't millions of women suffering with it. And it also came across as judgemental . Like - "You're eating wrong! AND that is why you're sick!"
As soon as Tia Mowry recommended tofu I stopped reading her diet advice. I avoid soy based foods. I gave up soy tofu and moved onto shan tofu (not quite the same, but close enough when I get a yen for tofu).
I think Tia Mowry has an official website, but I haven't checked it out.
THIS PISSES ME OFF TOO!! She is leading women to believe that she 'found the cure' for Endo..."I wanted to share how I overcame endometriosis with the help of surgery and my diet! It is my belief that if I can do it, you can too!" What load of crap!!! I think I am going to go on every single thing I find with her about Endo & post my thoughts. It is fucked up that she is leading people to believe there is a cure. BTW, the ONLY explaniation I can come up with as to why she thinks she is cured is the diet. Sure, SOMETIMES (not with me however lol) a certain diet can help a little bit, but that is in NO WAY a cure!! I have to watch this show now just to see how she plays it. Arrrhg...
She is young, and her opinion is clearly not well informed. I see her as more of a social extroverted type than someone like many of us who have turned to books and science (and each other) for the complete story.
I don't think she realizes the harm she is doing. Like the end where she says 'you can do it too' I feel like she thinks she is writing a self help book, I think she did write a book on pregnancy. And her book was on the fluffy 'stop worrying and enjoy your pregnancy' side.
There is a time and place for such books. Just keep them away from endo unless you are trying to write about overcoming psychological challenges (because I think we all share those)...
I'll wait till I see the episode before trying to reach out.

The old post didn't mention Tia Mowry's two prior surgeries, and then it suggested Miso soup and tofu for ladies with endo (soy? nuh-huh, I don't think so!). I had emailed them and told them I was insulted that the original post kinda sounded like it was claiming veganism alone could "cure" endometriosis and that it was insulting to women with endo.
If diet could "cure" us I think we'd all go vegan in a heartbeat.
Thanks for posting your thoughts on Tia Mowry & endo! I thought I was being overly sensitive and that I was the only one who was put off by some of the advice. If I hadn't read your post I definitely wouldn't have reached out to ecorazzi about my concerns.
Hopefully other places that interview celebs with endo will at least fact check their info. A simple Google search could've told the author everything I beyotched about in my email.
