Endometriosis Support Group
Endometriosis is a common medical condition where the tissue lining the uterus is found outside of the uterus, typically affecting other organs in the pelvis. The condition can lead to serious health problems, primarily pain and infertility. A major symptom of endometriosis is pain, mostly in the lower abdomen, lower back, and pelvic area.
I do have the same pain. I also had the pain around my hip joints and had endo on my uterosacral ligaments. It would make sense that it could be the same with my back. Thanks for posting!
Hope you find some relief... hope we all do :)
For those who don't, it is very important to have a Licensed massage therapist work on you. Just a regular masseuse can do you harm since you have a medical condition that effects your internal anatomy. Yes, you can expect a higher cost, but they actually will be improving your health and well being. It's like adding another doctor to your treatment team. Some insurance providers are now covering some massage therapy so check it out and see if your covered, and if your doctor can prescribe it for you.
Marlaina,
Yes, it will hurt as they work on those muscles. But the massage therapist needs to work on them so they can "release." They can back off on the pressure and go easy for you, and do lots of deep breathing. Be sure to drink lots of water Before the session and not just after. I found that really helps me out. I always drink lots of water but I found drinking even more the morning before my massage reduces the soreness after a session and also helps flush out those toxins and medication residues while I'm being worked on. Also, your therapist might notice scar tissue while working on you and they are very helpful at breaking that material up. Some areas, like around your psoas can be hard to massage on your own. I have a lot of scar tissue around my muscles from endo and endo excision surgery, especially my left hip area.
In the meantime, heat therapy and soaking in an epsom salt bath helped with the constant pain and muscle tightness. Be sure to keep the heating pad/source a low heat. So many women burn themselves due to their immense pain as well as high pain tolerance. Hope you feel better soon. :)
