it is just a tiny incision. I will be getting one in January and they are actually going to make the incision at the bottom of my belly button so nobody will even be able to tell

You will have 3-5 incisions depending on what is found and where. Everyone gets the belly button incision becayse that's where the scope goes. All incisions are about an inch or two long and typicsl heal pretty flat.

Heal fast where you don't really see anything?? How long do you start to feel better after surgery and start to be able to workout horsey riding? I hate being bed ridden its not the surgery I fear but the recovery...

the incisions are very tiny, scarring seems like it will be pretty minimal. I'll be rocking a bikini for sure!!!

Alana, if you ask about horseback riding after a lap one more time i'm going to shack you! lol. For me I was back on my feet after a few days but you won't get your full strength back for about 4-6 weeks. So please let your body heal Alana.

Hey its my life come on now! Fine, gym? haha sorry!!!! Is it because of the anesthesia or because of the actual healing that youre blah for that long? I guess what I hate and this was the same with my last surgery is you feel fine going in and than youre blah for so long after. I'm so active surgery and recoveries kill me.. and then there's the bleeding. I HATE BLEEDING (I know I say that a lot too but just in case someone missed my point lol)

I was pretty sore (not to mention tired) for a few weeks but some ladies go back to work the next week. Not being a horseback rider I cannot say for sure but it probably would have been at least a month for me? I felt like my recovery was on the longer side compared to a lot of women though. Hopefully someone here rides and can give a more insightful answer!

As far as scars go for most people after a few months they are nearly invisible. Do you usually heal well? Like from cuts and things? If so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I have some more obvious ones from my second lap but I do not have the best skin. The ones from my first (a year ago last August) are nearly invisible and I am super pale white. It did take a while though, they were pink for a while then they got dark and I was worried they would stay that way but they slowly faded to being hardly there.

My second lap though was a lot more extensive (~4 hours, 4 slightly bigger incisions, and more on my tummy than bikini area) and while they've faded they are visible. Not saying that to scare you - they still aren't that bad and I knew my skin doesn't always heal well but it was still disappointing. My belly button looks good still though! I had that lap last February so I expect they will still fade a little bit too.

It's the actual healing. No gym either.
I've had six laps and never bled after... but that's just me.

I told my doc he gets one shot if that doesn't work everything comes out I couldn't keep going thru surgery after surgery omg I hate surgery so much. I couldn't do it 6 times I'd lose my mind. I had surgery on my foot and you cant tell its even there to be honest it took a few months to heal and I put meloderma on it to make it heal quicker but now unless youre looking for it you cant tell, and another one on my nipple from a cyst cant tell really again unless you look at it. 6 weeks with no gym? I might go insane

So can they screw up your belly button or not really? That's another thing I'm sorta concerned about :/ is the healing process rough (after the gas comes out I know that part sucks).

The belly button incision is about the width of it inside so i don't see how that could. Ive had six so mine is more noticeable for i don't care. I've never had gas pains so I've had smooth recovers all six times. I never wanted to have any of them but had a kid to take care of.

So they actually go IN your belly button? Ok ew haha did your doctor just make sure he got all the gas out?

Yes, Alana they go in through your belly button. That's where they put the scope so they can look around. The other incisions are made to insert the instruments needed. I guess ... all I know is that I never had a gas pain at all. The most I've ever had was a crook in my next after the very first lap. And i was always back to work or school a week later. My daughter was 5 when i had the first lap so she could do some stuff for herself so i didn't have to do any lifting or anything like that.

I knew they went thru the belly button but it creeps me out! haha if you didn't have the gas pains were you in pain at all?
