Endometriosis Support Group
Endometriosis is a common medical condition where the tissue lining the uterus is found outside of the uterus, typically affecting other organs in the pelvis. The condition can lead to serious health problems, primarily pain and infertility. A major symptom of endometriosis is pain, mostly in the lower abdomen, lower back, and pelvic area.
Have you tried the dialators and the electrical stimulation biofeedback? I have had great results with these, and don't even need anything else now! The physio also taught me exercises (complete with a resistance band!!) to do while using the dialators and it is fantastic. Takes a bit of time but the improvement is wonderful! xx
If your doc won't prescribe a TENS Unit you there are a few websites where you can buy one without a prescription for under $50 I think.
Good luck.
Basically it is a vaginal probe that is hooked up to some sort of monitor (a computer in the hospital, home versions are smaller) and it tells you when your muscles are tensed and relaxed. Turns out I never could relax mine at the start!! Even when I thought they were... But you would find it useful to do this with a women's health physio, not trying to sort it out at home. So I highly recommend seeing someone in the hospital or finding a womens health physio who has experience with pelvic floor dysfunction. It is too hard to learn on your own when there are so many factors to consider in teaching a patient how to control their pelvic floor. But a wonderful visual tool so you learn what it feels like to have your muscles how they should be, and you can see for yourself what they are doing when you move, use a dialator, have an internal exam etc really really helpful!! Plus they can fatigue your muscles for you into a state of relax, until you learn how to do it yourself. It goes a long way in breaking the pain cycle.
The dialators you can purchase yourself (my hospital recommends this, you can't go wrong doing it yourself but improvement will take longer without the electrical stimulation biofeedback) You use the smallest to start, then when you can do your kegals on it, move it around and control your muscles without ANY pain, you move up to the next one. I got told to do 20mins twice a day, my focus was in releasing my muscles though not building them up. It does help to have a physio show you different exercises to do at the same time, and how best to move the dialator to know when you are ready for the next size. So I really have to say I would advise seeing someone for help, not just trying it out yourself, and then once you are confident you can purchase the dialators and the electrical stimulators for home use :) Message me if you want more info! Happy to talk to you about it all xx
