Endometriosis Support Group
Endometriosis is a common medical condition where the tissue lining the uterus is found outside of the uterus, typically affecting other organs in the pelvis. The condition can lead to serious health problems, primarily pain and infertility. A major symptom of endometriosis is pain, mostly in the lower abdomen, lower back, and pelvic area.
I had suspected IC and had a scope done in my bladder during my third lap but no inflammation was found. But when I have "attacks" of it it feels like I have a uti...I'll go to the Dr, they do urine tests...never had an infection but I usually have not in my urine.
Glad you like your new Dr!
i really do think that this pelvic pain im experiencing lately is IC. my doc said severe pain like i have been experiencing isnt typical with IC but i've read a lot of people saying they have the pelvic pain, back pain and pain down the leg with severe flares. i've altered my diet and am hoping this will help. yesterday and today have been much better.
I have IC too. It sucks as much as Endo does, but if you stick to the diet you will (eventually) have your symptoms under control, which is more than can be said for Endo :) My advice is to definitely do some solid research and SERIOUSLY be diligent with the diet. It was really tough for me at first, but when I actually do well, there is definitely a noticeable difference in my symptoms.
What are you symptoms like? I get really, really awful pelvic pain from flares, so that could totally be causing your pelvic pain. If you have a bad frequency issue, definitely ask your doctor (urologist? uro-gyn?) about uribel. That stuff is magic.
Sorry I get really enthusiastic about IC because treating it totally upped my quality of life haha!
YES, i absolutely think all of this pelvic pain is from IC. I have pelvic pain that's centralized in the lower pelvic area where my bladder is. Some days it covers my entire lower pelvis, some days it wraps around the left side and around to my back. sometimes i get pain down my left leg when it's severe. I have back pain with it a lot. and ocassionally it wraps to my right side but usually that's a duller pain. so the pain locale is very strange. When the pain is severe, i constantly feel the need to urinate, even if i literally just went. just over the past few days, i am having gastro issues with flare ups as well. otherwise, symptoms aren't bad. i do not have extreme frequency outside of flare ups... but it takes a solid 15 seconds to be able to relax and urinate after i sit down.
I found that website over the weekend and have been on it a LOT. I started a diet diary and have begun listing foods that, for me, are ok, questionable and absolutely no-no. i'm lactose intolerant but can usually eat yogurt or ice cream... NOPE. horrible flare up from both of those. *insert me crying right here.* No chocolate, coffee OR ICE CREAM?! I've been extremely careful about my diet going on 5 days now. it's VERY hard but just the though of having a flare up is keeping me away from bad foods.
i'm am about to call my gyno... he said for me to research IC and try the diet and if i felt like i needed to see a urologist to call for a referral. I definitely think i need to see a urologist. hopefully i can get in soon. in the meantime, i'm going to my naturalist tomorrow and hopefully she will have some helpful suggestions.
But happy to hear you are getting good results.
