Endometriosis Support Group
Endometriosis is a common medical condition where the tissue lining the uterus is found outside of the uterus, typically affecting other organs in the pelvis. The condition can lead to serious health problems, primarily pain and infertility. A major symptom of endometriosis is pain, mostly in the lower abdomen, lower back, and pelvic area.
What I can say is, is that I noticed your listed location as Maine. There is a endo specialist in your state. I don't know if you have ever considered seeing him, but I have read a lot about him and have heard through others that he is great. I actually wanted to go to him (I live in MA) but my insurance doesn't cover me out of state. His name is Dr. Robbins in Scarborough, Maine. From what I can tell is he believes in excision of endo, not ablation or medication suppression. Anyways, I am not sure, but he may be able to do a consult without you having to see him.
Here is a link to his website http://www.advancedwomenshealthcare.us/
Hope you start feeling better soon.
vansanturtle- Thank you for your support. I'm just angry over all of this too, like you I don't want anymore magic pills or fixes. I'm just tired of feeling like crap. I just want my life back to. I just want this to be cured all ready. I'm tired of band aid temp fixes.
ValleyWillis27-Thanks for the advice, but I already know of this specialist and he won't take me on the account that I have no insurance and not trying to be rude, but I really don't think their is much more he can do for me at this point except tell me what I've already heard from my other doctors and specialists or do what's already been done. :(
I'm just so sick and over this right now!!! I just want to be well again! I will take my old life of not knowing what endo was and being completely naive to everything that I've been thro, just one day!
@marlaina - I am gald you decided to reach out. I hope you are having a better day today. The insurance part is equally frustrating. I know because I have been through the same thing. When I first found out or was trying to figure out what was wrong with me. I was one of the lucky ones and insurance finally came through a job I have been barely able to work because of the pain. Please look into some insurance. Maybe you qualify for a care program (I did for a while and ended up being able to get lupron free for a year, just enough to buy me some time to get better insurance) or obamacare coverage? Hugs!
Excision is your best bet to finding some relief with your pain, even with a hysterectomy if the endo is not properly removed it can grow back, even with the ovaries removed because endo has been found to make its own estrogen in some people. So even if you decide to go with a hysterectomy eventually it may be worth looking into having it done with an expert if you are (eventually) able to.
I am looking at having my second surgery in early 2014 and though I can't go out of state to see a true expert I will be interviewing surgeons and anyone who uses ablation will not be touching me...Im still paying for the botched surgery I had in 2012.
I completely understand you issues with insurance, my plan will be canceled as of Dec. 31st. I just spent .2.5 hours applying for another one online, and I am scared to death I wont get a plan that allows me to afford my next surgery.
I have no idea how your state functions in terms of insurance, but maybe there is a subsidized plan through your state or you can find something through the ACA (aka Obama care).
Good luck with everything, I hope you start feeling better soon and you find something that provides relief.
My nurse pract was supposed to talk with my surg/ob-gyn today and get back to me tomorrow. I will ask about if it was lasered or excised, I also asked what stage they would have considered me as well. I hope I hear back soon.
As far as the health ins goes. I've been without for about a year and a half now. Trying to make a long story short....I was dx'd with stage 4 breast cancer almost 10 years ago now and was on state aided health ins. They revoked me in the middle of my treatments (again long story, but they gave me every excuse in the book as to why I didn't need it even tho I was on life saving chemo and radiation) I had to move out of state to get health care. It was awesome state aided care and I regret having to have had moved back to this crap state. I had to move back here, this place sucks when it comes to jobs so there is no work related ins. and the state doesn't consider my stage 4 cancer or endo life threatening, a chronic illness or a disability so I'm not allowed to be on it and I haven't found anything remotely affordable out of pocket on my own.
I have been on this insurance thing for over a year and a half and have contacted my gov. and my senators and none of them will allow me on state care. I did look into obamacare to see what they offered and the only plan it will offer me is a plan that is almost 400 a month and it hardly covers anything. I still have co-pays and it won't pay for meds on top of my monthly costs. I'm like I make 15,000 a year working part time because of my illnesses (at least I'm trying to help myself) how is paying almost half of my monthly income affordable and then I still have to pay out of pocket for stuff???
So that is where my insurance issue lies...I'm telling you if I don't have any insurance by the time the obamacare goes into effect and I get fined because of it I'm suing this damn state. (My gov also refused funds from the government to help get more people on Medicaid/medicare or to help get a state aided insurance up and running for the working class. He did this because he doesn't beleive in socialized medicine because it teaches people that its o.k. to get sick and have illnesses. Dick.)
