Endometriosis is a common medical condition where the tissue lining the uterus is found outside of the uterus, typically affecting other organs in the pelvis. The condition can lead to serious health problems, primarily pain and infertility. A major symptom of endometriosis is pain, mostly in the lower abdomen, lower back, and pelvic area.
Quick update for those who aren't aware: I had my second lap last month (5/9). I started to get some relief. My period started on 6/1 and since then I have been in pain again, especially with a full bladder and I also started spotting around ovulation which has never happened. I went back to the doctor and they scheduled me for an ultrasound and lo and behold: I have a 4cm hemorrhagic cyst on my right ovary (possibly an endometrioma but it's hard to tell since the cyst is so new) and what looks like adhesions on the left but may actually also be an endometrioma.
Needless to say, I am devastated. I'm right back to square one after having a terribly long and painful recovery, plus my husband and I are TTC and this makes an existing problem even worse.
Has anyone had cysts come back so soon after surgery? If I say the cyst on the right returned the first day I felt it, it came back one month and four days after the surgery. My doctor says he considers a surgery to be a failure if you get less than two years of nearly total relief. I got less than a month. I am just in shock, especially since he wrapped both of my ovaries in special surgical mesh that would prevent any lesions from implanting on them while they were healing.
And by the way, this is not a unique situation for me. I had my first lap on 12/7 where they removed a 7cm endometrioma from my left ovary. I had an ultrasound on 3/6 and they found three smaller ones in its place.

I'm so sorry you're dealing with this again! I haven't had recurrent cysts after surgery, but I did want to mention I had a suspected endometrioma at one point that turned out to be just an extra bloody ovulation. I know with your history it doesn't seem likely, but it's possible. I'm sorry you're in so much pain, but you could still get some relief from this last surgery. My first ovulation and period after an extensive surgery were brutal! At least some of the pain could be from the trauma and healing after surgery. I really hope it gets better with time and the cysts shrink or disappear. I may be being overly optimistic here, but there might still be hope after all. I'm crossing my fingers you'll get knocked up right away. Again, I am so very sorry you're still dealing with all this! ((Hugs))
