The condition can lead to serious health problems, primarily pain and infertility. A major symptom of endometriosis is pain, mostly in the lower abdomen, lower back, and pelvic area.
Hi girls. it has been 2 mos since my lap. The dr. Removed a lot of adhesions that fused my ovary, uterus, tube and bowel together. I have had pretty severe symptoms for years-infertility, horrible periods, AWFUL ovulation pain, constipation, pain with and after sex, etc. The dr. Found 10 small spots that he considered mild for endo. I have known a few women who had no symptoms or trouble until they had hysterectomies and the dr. Found lots of endo. I am just the opposite, I have had really bad pain for close to 30 years but I have small spots only. The dr. Thinks the adhesions were caused by a the removal of a cyst or possible tubal pregnancy.
I have read that there is no correlation between the stage of endo and pain. But has anyone else experienced this? It's hard to hear you have a MILD case when it's affected you so much for years! Last weekend I had absolutely terrible ovulation pain, was in bed all day Sunday. Drugs didn't help at all. I know that the first few mos after a lap can be bad, but the ovulation pain has always been bad for me. Grrrrr

That sounds awful!! At least now you have some answers. I have read that sometimes when you have a more mild case (stage 1 or 2) that the symptoms can be way worse than if you have a more severe case (stage 3 or 4). I have stage 3, and I have a lot of pain, but everyone is different. It could be that what I have read applies to you, being told you have a mild case yet having so many horrible symptoms! It really makes no sense. Also, I had pain for about 6 months after my first (and so far only) lap. The only thing that works for me is hydrocodone, but again everyone is different. Have you tried a hot bath or heating pad during ovulation? Sometimes that can dull it a bit. I hope you feel better soon!!!

I have a mild case also. It is a fact that you can not correlate the level of endo to the level of pain. I have had horrific pain for several years until my 6th lap 2 years ago. Adhesions come from endo so it does not have to be from a cyst or pregnancy. Look into pelvic floor therapy ... that ended my ovulation pain because the pain was so bad because my pelvic floor muscles were extrememly tight making everything tight in that area. Which pain meds have you tried?

My doctor actually told me that I am an unusual case because I have severe endo and severe pain. She told me that in her experience, women with mild endo experience the worst pain and those with the most severe cases often have none at all...so you are not alone there! Like Jessye, the only thing that works on pain for me is hydrocodone (I take it with 600mg ibuprofen) and heat...hot shower, heating pad, hot water bottle and hot tea is the best combo in the world.

Thanks ladies. I have tried ultram which doesn't help, 800 Motrin which normally would work but not for the ovulation pain. The doctor gave me Vicodin to try. I took it for kidney stones but I hate the way it makes me feel so I end up having to go to bed if I take it, but I will be glad to have it on hand. My drug of choice used to be darvocette but it was pulled off the market last year. I do take baths and use a rice pillow you put in the microwave. Thanks for your replies and have a nice weekend.
